Hi,
I heard that some centers in Nigeria are having trouble installing Oracle on Solaris 10. I've successfully installed Oracle 10g R2 for Solaris on Solaris 10 Developer edition OS version 5.11.(That's the version that was given on a DVD during the training.)
The trick is simple.
After the configuration of the OS you run your installer with:
1 ./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs
2 at 64% you get an error concerning creating links if you do not do the following.
Go to the $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genntab file and edit line 149. Instead of .set .,.+16 which appears there, put .set .,.+32. YOU DO THIS WHILE THE INSTALLER IS RUNNING, SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 30% AND 63%.
You still get 1 or 2 errors for, but the installation succeeds and the database works like a brand new engine.
Regards,
Martin.

July7-27, 2008: It Was A Singular Experience
Hi Guru Arafath and All My Esteemed Colleagues!!!,
Let me start by thanking our teacher again for the awe-inspiring blend of theory and practice in his teaching method...........there's clearly a lot of work to be done.
I 've been literally "out of it" healthwise for past week.....but I'm getting better.
I just want you to know that I will always treasure this experience......(especially the hair-raising bike-rides from Ojodu to Oba Akran!).
I hope you all got back safely to your Centers........I'm so certain that your students shall immediately "take knowledge" that you've all been in the presence of a superior mind during your training leave.
As for me...........Dr. Bolu isn't back from London yet......when he gets back.......he'll find me waiting at his office with a proposal to have me transfered permanently to the Skills and innovation Center........because of the sharks in Mechanical Engineering have already started to circle around me with focus-distracting tasks..........but I won't let them.......hell no!!!
The possibilities are endless.......the limit is found only in our abilities.
I hope to be able to get up to speed with the rest of you and contribute technically to this blog in a matter of few months (dare I say weeks)
Cheers Today!!!!

What a Moment We Shared 2gether!
I might have appeared as the most quiet Ghanaian participant in the just ended Java and Solaris training programme, but yet the most talkative! Hey, don't get me wrong.
Much appreciation to the organizers of the the most insightful and challenging training programme. Mr. Arafath Aboobacker is such a magnificient, superflous, and exquisite icon who exhibited nothing below iconic expedition. Bravo, Sir! I salute your ingenuity and sharing intellect! You've been a great source of inspiration and we'll always admire your great sense of humor and immesurable knowledge that you imparted into us.
To my fellow participants, I say "kudos to you all". The journey has just begun. Let us forge ahead and exploit much more than our heads could accommodate. We are tomorrows leaders! We are transformers of our generation! Africa looks up to us... Surely, we shall be the Martin Luther Kings, Mahatma Gandhis, Budhas, Shakesperes, and the great heroes that Mother Africa needs to catapults her from a developing generation to a first class continent that God Almighty has purposed us to be!
Carry on the mantle...and you shall surely be a Hero!!!
Accept best compliments from the shores of Accra-Ghana. I love you all with the love of God Most High...
God bless, nothing less....
Warmest compliments:
Gabriel Asante.
